Dagara Divinations

Stick divination is an ancient shamanic technology originating in Burkina Faso, West Africa. It is a spiritual and cosmological practice, a way of opening a channel between you, your ancestors, and the elemental beings devoted to us and to this Earth.

What happens in a divination is relational. The spirits and ancestors speak through the diviner, and what comes back to you is not just information. It is medicine. Divination connections you deeper with YOUR medicine and YOUR ancestors.

I work with the Wedeme spirits, the spirits of the wild, who speak through the sticks and through me. The divination reveals what's blocking your path, what your ancestors are asking of you, and what medicine is being called for. You'll receive ritual prescriptions: concrete actions and offerings that help the insight take root in your life, not just your understanding. These rituals are meant to be started within 3 to 4 weeks while the divination energy is still actively working with you.

My Story

I came to this medicine in the fall of 2023 and felt immediately at home. Something in me settled and stirred at the same time. I have been in ongoing mentorship with my Elder Dr. María Hetényi since then, working in deep relationship with this lineage and with my additional Elders. I was invited by the spirits into the medicine to merge while pregnant with my second son in 2024, and completed my merging ceremony in February 2026. This is a beautiful, beautiful technology. It has deepened my relationship with my ancestors, connected me to the elemental beings devoted to us, and had me come home to my own medicine in ways I could not have found alone.

In that time: I healed my birth story on the side of a mountain and offered it to the earth, and I birthed my son in my bathtub with one push. I ritually prepared my oldest son to become a big brother, introducing him to his grandfathers, the stones, and the threshold he was crossing. I cleared generational sexual trauma from my body, inherited in utero and beyond. I worked with my grandfathers to help ease my father's fear around his death. I buried stones carrying the grief of my lineage. I married myself to my medicine at the edge of the ocean.

The lesson I keep learning: we are not alone in this. There are things we can only do while in a body, and there are things we simply cannot do without the help of our ancestors. That is what divination gives you access to.

What a Divination Session Includes

We create sacred space together. I throw the divination tools and translate what the ancestors and spirits are communicating. We may explore:

Questions you're holding: what do you need to know right now?
Ancestral guidance: what are your ancestors asking you to see, release, or step into?
Spiritual blockages: what's in the way of your path?
Ritual prescriptions: what offerings or practices are being called for?
Elemental medicine: what element is asking to work with you?

To Prepare: Bring a quarter or coin. Speak your 1 to 3 questions into it beforehand and let it hold your intention. You can sleep with it under your pillow the night before to deepen the connection. Create a quiet, comfortable space for yourself. Bring tea, water, whatever helps you settle and receive.

Sessions run 60 to 75 minutes.

Standalone or blended

Divination can be a standalone session for those seeking ancestral guidance on a specific question(s). You can also send your birth time information to gather more information for the cosmo, stars, and star people. There are specific energies held in your natal chart that we can divine on.
