FAQs

Do you accept insurance?
As an "out of network" therapist, I don't directly collaborate with insurance companies. However, your insurance plan might cover a portion of the cost of therapy services. For clients interested in seeking reimbursement, I offer a monthly superbill that you can submit to your insurance provider. It's a good idea to get in touch with your insurance provider beforehand to check if your policy includes out-of-network coverage for mental health services such as psychotherapy or counseling.

Do you offer a sliding scale?
Although a sliding scale is not available, I am dedicated to ensuring therapy is within reach. To support this, I reserve a segment of my practice for services at a lower rate. Currently, these spots are full.

What is your fee?
My rate is $180 for each 50-minute session and $288 for each 80-minute session. Payments can be made using credit, debit, HSA, or FSA cards, and are due at the time of service.

What is your cancellation policy?
If you cancel less than 48 hours before our planned session, you will be responsible for the full session fee. If you're delayed, please inform me of your expected arrival time so we can make the most of our session. Should you be over 15 minutes late without notifying me, I will have to consider the session canceled. If you need to change our appointment, send me an email as soon as possible, and I'll do my best to accommodate a new meeting time.

Where are you located?
My base is in Sacramento, California, but I offer telehealth services via video appointments to individuals residing anywhere in California."

Do you offer in-person sessions?
Not, at this time.

How does online therapy work?
The process is straightforward. Before each session, I'll send you a link to enter my virtual waiting room, where we'll connect for our video consultation. This method offers you the flexibility to participate in therapy sessions from the comfort of your own home or any other private space.

What is your availability?
I generally see clients Tuesday through Thursday from 9am to 3pm. I do not have any availability outside of these times to schedule sessions. I only work with individual adult clients. I do not see families, couples, adolescents, or children.

How often will we meet?
Sessions are 50 minutes long or 80 minutes long each week. I ask that all new clients commit to weekly sessions. I hold a weekly time slot for each of my clients. Bi-weekly sessions at 80 minutes may be available after an initial period of working together, depending on treatment goals. I also have “integration weeks” seasonally when we will not meet.

What distinguishes 50-minute sessions from 80-minute sessions?
Standard therapy sessions last 50 minutes and occur weekly, suiting most people's needs. However, an 80 minute session might be more appropriate for you if you find it takes some time to relax and engage fully at the beginning of a session, or if your nervous system requires a bit more time to settle in. If you often feel like 50 minutes isn't sufficient to thoroughly explore your thoughts and feelings, or if you're currently navigating through significant processes and prefer to delve deeper into your sessions, the extended 80 minute format could offer the additional time you need.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask me for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule with me. Upon request, your Good Faith Estimate will be provided in a document you can access at any time in my Simple Practice client portal. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 985-3059.
