FAQs

Do you accept insurance?
As an "out of network" therapist, I don't directly collaborate with insurance companies. However, your insurance plan might cover a portion of the cost of therapy services. For clients interested in seeking reimbursement, I offer a monthly superbill that you can submit to your insurance provider. It's a good idea to get in touch with your insurance provider beforehand to check if your policy includes out-of-network coverage for mental health services such as psychotherapy or counseling. Some people have great coverage, and others do not.

Do you offer a sliding scale?
Although a sliding scale is not available, I am dedicated to ensuring therapy is within reach. To support this, I reserve a segment of my practice for services at a lower rate. Currently, these spots are full.

What is your fee?
My rate is $225 for each 50-minute session and $335 for each 80-minute session. Payments can be made using credit, debit, HSA, or FSA cards, and are due at the time of service.

Why is therapy so expensive?

I GET it. Therapy is expensive. I also pay for my own expensive therapy. Why? Because it's worth it.

This is an important question, and I want to offer transparency about what goes into the investment of depth therapy.

Why I charge what I charge:

My rate reflects my advanced training, years of experience, and the specialized nature of the work I offer—weaving together depth psychology, astrology, intuitive and psychic gifts, spirituality, and somatic approaches. As a depth therapist, I don't take on more clients than my nervous system allows. This means I maintain a smaller practice so I can offer deep, sustained presence in our work together. Each session extends far beyond our 50 or 80 minutes—I carry your story, tend to documentation, engage in ongoing consultation and supervision, and hold space for the complexity of your inner world.

Therapy is an investment. An investment in yourself, your healing, your growth, and your future.

The cost of running a private practice includes significant overhead: business taxes, health insurance (as a solo practitioner, I don't receive employer benefits), student loans, licensure costs and renewals, continuing education and trainings, ongoing consultation and supervision, marketing costs, HIPAA-compliant platforms, website maintenance, and the time spent on administrative work that keeps the practice running smoothly. Beyond that, I invest heavily in my own therapy and healing practices to ensure I'm a healthy therapist and a trustworthy container for your work. Unlike larger clinics or agencies, I bear these costs independently to maintain the intimate, relational container that depth work requires.

Quality matters. I do not engage with venture capitalist tech companies like BetterHelp or Talkspace that exploit therapists and compromise the quality of care. The therapy I offer is rooted in relational depth, not profit margins.

My rate is on par with other therapists who hold similar training in therapy, astrology, intuitive and psychic gifts, and who offer this caliber of presence and specialized care.

I recognize that therapy at this rate isn't accessible for everyone. While I keep a limited number of lower-fee spots in my practice (currently full), I want to support you in finding the right therapeutic container for your needs and resources. Open Path Collective is an excellent resource for finding therapists who offer sessions on a sliding scale ($30-$80 per session).

I'm committed to ensuring therapy is within reach while also honoring the sustainability of my practice and the depth of presence this work demands.

What is your cancellation policy?
If you cancel less than 48 hours before our planned session, you will be responsible for the full session fee. If you're delayed, please inform me of your expected arrival time so we can make the most of our session. Should you be over 15 minutes late without notifying me, I will have to consider the session canceled. If you need to change our appointment, send me an email as soon as possible, and I'll do my best to accommodate a new meeting time.

Where are you located?
My base is in Sacramento, California, but I offer telehealth services via video appointments to individuals residing anywhere in California. I offer spiritual consultation services from anywhere in the world.

Do you offer in-person sessions?
Not, at this time. I occasionally have in-person group offerings.

How does online therapy work?
The process is straightforward. Before each session, I'll send you a link to enter my virtual waiting room, where we'll connect for our video consultation. This method offers you the flexibility to participate in therapy sessions from the comfort of your own home or any other private space.

What is your availability?
I generally see clients Tuesday through Thursday from 9am to 3pm. I do not have any availability outside of these times to schedule sessions. I only work with individual adult clients. I do not see families, couples, adolescents, or children.

What astrology services do you offer?
For interested clients, I incorporate therapeutic astrology into our therapy sessions. I also offer a variety of astrology readings outside of my therapy practice that can be booked at mysticaltherapist.com or under my consultation section. My astrology readings focus on process versus prediction. They are trauma-informed and focused on your highest healing good.

Do you only work with women?
While I primarily work with women, femmes, and female-identifying clients, my practice is inclusive to all genders, sexualities, and identities. I have worked with many men, and I enjoy this work! If you think we might be a good fit, please reach out!

How often will we meet?
Sessions are 50 minutes long or 80 minutes long each week. I ask that all new clients commit to weekly sessions. I hold a weekly time slot for each of my clients. Bi-weekly sessions at 50 or 80 minutes may be available after an initial period of working together, depending on goals and availability. I also have “integration weeks” seasonally, when we will not meet. I strive to give a month’s notice for time off.

How long does therapy take?
The honest answer? As long as it needs to. Depth work isn't a quick fix.

Most of my clients work with me long-term, often for years. This kind of therapy asks for commitment because real transformation happens in the sustained presence of being witnessed, held, and accompanied through the layers. Some clients take breaks and return when they're ready.

That said, sometimes people do just need support with a specific life passage or issue, and a few months of work is exactly what's needed. I welcome that too.

If you're looking for more spiritual consultation or astrology coaching that's shorter-term in nature, those services can be booked with me under spiritual consultation, or you can email me at stephanie@fourthhousetherapy.com.

But know that my therapy practice is rooted in long-term relational depth—that's where the profound shifts happen. I'm set up for the long haul with people who want to do this work slowly, soulfully, and thoroughly.

What distinguishes 50-minute sessions from 80-minute sessions?
Standard therapy sessions last 50 minutes and occur weekly, suiting most people's needs. However, an 80-minute session might be more appropriate for you if you find it takes some time to relax and engage fully at the beginning of a session, or if your nervous system requires a bit more time to settle in. If you often feel like 50 minutes isn't sufficient to thoroughly explore your thoughts and feelings, or if you're currently navigating through significant processes and prefer to delve deeper into your sessions, the extended 80-minute format could offer the additional time you need.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask me for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule with me. Upon request, your Good Faith Estimate will be provided in a document you can access at any time in my Simple Practice client portal. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 985-3059.
